Japan Things To Do in Tokyo: Sumida River Cruise – Day 2 part 2

April 21, 2012 | By | 2 Comments
In the previous post I started to talk about things to do on your second day in Tokyo with Asakusa Senso-Ji Temple in the morning. In this second part of the same day I will talk about the Sumida River Cruise where the departure is in Asakusa area.

In the Afternoon you can try the Sumida River cruise, the departure location is very close to  the Senso-ji temple. There is several cruise paths that you can choose, we decided to take  the one to Hinode to visit the Zojoji Temple an Tokyo Tower. The cruise itself was not bad, the ship will go under several type of bridges. At the end of the cruise you will have a nice view over some skyscrapers of Tokyo, all along the cruise the history of the different sights are presented in japanese by a Japanese guide. (So I didn’t understand a word :) ). I have also seen in their cruise catalog that they organize some departure at night and I think it is a good option to see Tokyo by night from the Sumida river. unfortunately I didn’t have enough  time to do it. Also for fireworks event they propose to see the fireworks from the boat. During the cruise, make sure to have a seat close to the window especially in the front of the boat to enjoy the full view over Tokyo. More high resolution photos of the Sumida River cruise taken with a Sony Nex-5 camera and a 18-200mm lens (sel18200) are available below. Once you arrive to Hinode area (if you decide to there) you can go to the Zojo-ji Temple and The Tokyo Tower observatory to enjoy some panoramic view of Tokyo from the top (I would say around 30 minutes walking ).

The next post will be related to the last part of Day-2 in Tokyo: The Zojoji Temple and The Tokyo Tower
